I am actually a huge fan of Mr. Lynne -- all the way back to The Move and even forward to solo stuff like Armchair Theatre, but there are exceptions -- or there's at least this exception.

I do dislike the fact that DVDs do not contain the current distributor's logo followed by the vintage logo. It would be nice to see GONE WITH THE WIND with Leo's roar following Turner's corporate logo...

It's debatable that it should have an MGM logo really, merely a Selznick one. MGM originally released it, but they didn't make it.Now, the MGM logo and nothing else on Whale's SHOW BOAT...

I saw it in 1965 on an MGM re-issue and that matches my memory. Was it EVER released with an MGM logo? (Not that I have any interest in seeing Leo roar regardless.)

I doubt it.  Selznick normally used United Artists to distribute his films.  Evidently MGM's distribution of this film was part of the deal in obtaining Gable.
